Grey Days to Glimmering

Greetings from what currently seems to be the coldest place on earth, lovely people!  I am sure there are those in Canada that would differ, but my little corner of the U.S. is purty frigid right now.  So naturally it's the perfect time of the year to participate in Kellie's delightful Grey Days to Glimmering blog party!  She has fourteen questions up for grabs on her blog (just click on the picture above) and anyone who wishes to may join the fun and chase away a few of the winter doldrums.  I have a pretty hard time resisting blog parties, and at this time of year a party like this is especially welcome.

On to... the questions!

1) What's your favorite thing to do when you've been feeling uninspired?

Read other people's blogs.  :D I take it we're talking about blogging inspiration here... heehee.  My best inspiration comes from my friends, a fact that is yet another example of Wit and Wisdom From a Refrigerator Magnet.

2) Tell us about a really great movie/show that you've just discovered.

That would have to be BBC's Lark Rise to Candleford.  I've just started watching this enthralling series, and though I'm only a few episodes into it, I'm hooked already!  A review of Season One will be up as soon as I finish watching it (and after I review Henry V, Northanger Abbey, North and South...)

3) What do you like to do to change your mood?

I take it we're talking about changing a bad mood?  Because I don't know about you, but usually when I'm in a good mood I'm not interested in changing it.  So, anyway, when it comes to bad moods, I like to curl up with a book and not have to talk to anyone or be responsible for anything... heehee.  Doesn't always happen, but that's my ideal scenario.

4) Your favorite drink is currently...

Tea.  I've finally come to terms with the fact that I'm just not a coffee person.  Tea in all its heated forms owns my heart, and I'm currently loving Celestial Seasonings' Tangerine Orange.

5) When you hear the word exuberant, what's the first word that comes to mind?

Jumping jacks.  Ridiculous, I know, but the word always makes me think of a little girl leaping in the air doing a jumping jack.

6) What made you smile last?

An email from the ever-smileworthy Melody (about five minutes ago).

7) What five songs would make a playlist to describe your week?

Hmmm.  I don't suppose we're talking about the five songs I listened to the most this week?  No?  Pity, because that would be easier.  Okay then, let's see...
~"As the Deer"
~"Nessun Dorma" (so it's in Italian and I understand about four words total... well, it makes me feel Joyful and Passionate and Dramatic and exceedingly Cultured.  Opera has a way of doing that.)
~"Just Around the Riverbend"
~"Do You Hear the People Sing?" (well, all week I've been hearing them sing... okay, all YEAR I've been hearing them sing... okay, so I have a little obsession, is there a problem?)
~"Goosey Goosey Goosey" (that reallllllly annoying song from Jeeves and Wooster that Gussie Fink-Nottle sings... yeah, it's been stuck in my head all week.  Thanks to an obliging sister who sings it whenever she gets a chance.  "How dooooo you feeeeeel when you marry your ideeeeeeal?  Ever so goosey goosey goooooooosey...")

8) What's at the top of your creative 'To-Do' list?

Finish the Civil War dresses I'm making for Anne-girl and myself (pictures will come when the project is completed, but as I'm only halfway through the first dress, it may take a while).

9) The last thing you crossed off the above list was...

Organizing my bulletin board... it looks quite loverly now, if I do say so myself (and I do).

10)  Quickly - the first movie quote from the top of your head, please!

Uhhhhhh... *instantly forgets every movie quote she's ever known*

"Yeah. When pigs fly."

"Actually, I had an uncle who was a pilot."

"Really?"

"Nah, not

(Okay, name it.)

11)  The best thing about January is...

My dad's and brother's birthdays!

12) The worst thing about January is...

The excruciating HEAT. My, isn't it hot? Is it ever hot! Goodness, aren't you just roasting?

13) What's your #1 resolution for 2013?

Scripture memorization. I absolutely stink at memorization. I'm teaching a Bright Lights lesson next week on How to Be Wiser Than Your Enemies (which involves hiding God's Word in your heart) and the irony is not lost on me. I WILL memorize a goodly chunk of Scripture this year.

14)  And lastly, share a quote or verse that you've found especially inspiring lately.

Well, the verse I chose for 2013 has been close to my heart recently... it's Luke 14:28-30. "For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and coutheth the cost, whether he hath sufficient to finish it? les haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish." Yep, that's my inspiration for this year... as the Queen of Not Actually Accomplishing All Those Big Ideas She Set Out to Do.

That was great fun-- a big thank you to Kellie for hosting this!

So glad you're getting into Lark Rise to Candleford, dearling! I'm thinking of reviewing the entire series in one post... what think you? I need to post something, after all. :P

I was never in doubt that I am not a coffee person. I knew it as soon as I tried it. I knew it before I tried it, but I was willing to try it, and it only confirmed my suspicions. :P In fact, I am an anti-coffee-person, which is not even the same thing, ANIRA. But your Tangerine Orange is making me curious (it sounds delish), so I think I shall request that we get some from the store. :D Isn't Celestial Seasonings nice? It's just better than other brands... and the boxes are always cute, too. Heehee.

Awwww, dearling, your answer to #6 MMFVVHI. Heeheehee. Slogginess is ever so nice, but sometimes it's little comments like that that really give me the warm fuzzies... hahaha.

That Goosey Goosey song sounds annoying. But now I am curious. Haha.

YOU'RE MAKING CIVIL WAR DRESSES AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME??? You, you... something. Well, you shall pay for this by telling me all about them forthwith. I rather want another Victorian ball gown... for the ball in March... and of course, Civil War is the best for that ball. But I probably won't have the time or means to make one. *sniffle* I'll have to wear my same old lavender silk. (Okay, so it's satin... but it's more fun to call it silk.)

I am roasting, quite. :P OH DEAR. It must be cold everywhere, because it's quite frigid here. It is generally remarked upon, as being so much colder than usual winters in ____ (that's a blank for you to mentally fill in my state's name). The snow we got WEEKS ago has barely melted at all, and I don't even venture out to check the mail... I just let Papa do it. Haha.

I'm really bad with Bible verse memorization too... it's always come difficult to me and, to be frank, the last time I remember doing it was when I 'had to' for Master Club in Jr. High. Heh. Perhaps you and I should do something togethah--what think? Of course, my resolutions would probably be much smaller than yours. ;)

I was intending this comment to be short. Eh-heh. You know me....

I didn't know you did Bright Lights! That's awesome, though. :) A good friend and I taught a group for...two years, I think. Great program. :)

Twas fun reading this, Amy dear! (:
About the Scripture memorization...I don't know if you've heard of it, but there's this website called ScriptureTyper.com and it's helped me so much with memorization! Their memorization techniques are awesome, and typing the verses really makes them stick...and no, this is not a paid endorsement (:
Goodness, but I'm just about tired of this freezing weather myself...ideal temperature is approximately 65, which is rare to never ever happening in this part of the world.

Actually, you're quite right about the excruciating heat of January! We've had some lovely hot days here (on the other side of the world!). Yes, it so happens that Australia is HOT in January (and hotter in Feb :) And warm around Christmas! Can't imagine it any other way!)

Hello Amy! I am SO PLEASED that you are hooked on Larkrise to Candleford!! That is one of my favorite shows, and I feel such a lot like Laura at times (if only I could wear the kind of dresses she does!) Melody and I love to use Miss Lane's "one weakness" quote for our favorite things. ; )
It is not so very frigid here now, although it was. It is raining in a most dreary manner. It is especially dreary as I was going to ride my horse today! >.< At any rate, it is rather comforting to know that other people are experiencing inconvenient weather... : )

Meurry,
Ha, well, I am most certainly not an ANTI-coffee person.. it's okay once in a while. But tea--good old Celestial Seasonings tea--that's the boy for me. :D And YES, the boxes are so CUTE! I am glad you understand about cute boxes. ;)
Well, I DID START to tell you about the Civil War dresses... hahaha. I know we already talked about that, but I'm just saying so for the benefit of anyone reading this comment who might think I neglected you. :P (My long and gushing account of the CW dresses was still languishing in an email draft, y'alls.)
Ooh, I do like the ide-er of memorizing something together! We should indeed do that!
And yes, I did finish NA-the-movie... short version of my opinion is "ehh...". Haha. There were some parts that were swellissimus. And others that were nyih. And Henry didn't live up to my expectations. Haha.

Charity,
Yep, I do! That's so cool that you used to, too!

MATTIE!
How long has it BEEN? I must email you very soon, I promise I will, I really do...
I'm checking out that website this very evening... sounds like just what I need!

Jane,
I didn't even think about how hot it must be in Australia! So very different from here-- I think I prefer having winter in January, though. :D

Katy-Anne,
Thanks! I'm looking into it!

Bea,
Of course! It's not my blog party, but I'm sure Kellie wouldn't mind if you just answered the questions in a comment--either on her blog or mine. Hers is kelliefalconer.blogspot.com

Lily,
Oh, yes, Miss Lane is such fun to quote! I'm loving Lark Rise. :D
I hope you get to go riding soon! What fidgety weather this is!

Jack likes North and South. She likes the tall man who played the short dwarf king. he is nice, but I like the grumpy man better to likes the little boy in the end. And I like the mum, because she is silly, but not as silly as the sister. I am glad I don't have a sister like that.

I am glad you like my blog. I found yours because you found mine and now I will get to read it too. (And you have a neat top. Jack likes the movie, the one with all the sisters in it. Well, she likes it until it gets mushy. I like it till then too.)

I show2ed Jack what you said about Columbo and thePrincess Bride and she said no but then thought and thought he did look like him so looked for him and found he is the grandfather. She got all funny and giggled, which she does when she finds an actor she likes is in more then one movie she likes. (I don't think he is as cross eyed when he is the grandpa.)

No, I don't have little sp=iblings. I have a big sibling, a brother but he isn't as nice as me and he's not a baby. I know where hedgehogs can be adopted in Jack's town though, because she adopted me there and there were others there. You should come visit and adopt a baby hedgehog.
