Contest Entries and the Top Twelve Finalists

Well, I must say that the Period Drama Button contest turned out to be quite a success (even though I was worried no one would enter)! Thirteen lovely contestants participated, with a whopping 71 entries! You must imagine my consternation at the idea of trying to choose only five from these laugh-out-loud pictures, so in the end, I didn't.  Instead, I chose twelve (because I have, like, no willpower).

You may observe on my sidebar two polls, each with six entries.  The polls will be up until Wednesday night, and then on Thursday morning a new poll will arise.  The winning entry from each of the first two polls will then compete against each other in the third poll (the Thursday one).  I shall not be voting in the polls, except in case of a tie, in which case I shall be prevailed upon to break the tie.  I beseech each and every one of you to vote in BOTH polls, if you please, and then again in the third one when it is revealed on Thursday!  In this way, I pass the buck to YOU to decide who wins. :)

And now, so as not to prolong the suspense, I shall firstly thank each and every one of you who participated, because you made this thing awesome! Here are links to everyone's entries (in no order whatsoever).

So what are y'all waiting for? Go vote!

Oh! Forgot to say this, but I don't feel like editing the post, so I'll just comment: you are free to vote for your own caption, of course. :)

My favorite was not in the poll-the smolder one was the best-I am going to have to show my sister. I think the smirk one may have been second although if Jonny Lee Miller's Mr. Knightly (I hate Jeremy Northam's Mr. Knightly) had been used the one I voted for would probably be second instead of third.

Livia,
Sorry your favorite was not in the poll! (It was really, really hard to narrow down 12 finalists.) I am insatiably curious... which one was it?

Melody said...

Oh yay! One of mine was chosen! But now I don't know what to vote for on the first poll because it feels wrong to vote for yourself, but ... yeah.

On the second one, I voted for Miss Elizabeth's Smirk. hehehe...I loved that one. =) I also love how Mr. Darcy smirks in that movie...XD And of course, Henry's quotes are always winners. He is most amusing.

Melody,
You wouldn't be laughing at your poor decisionally-challenged Mouse, now would you?
If it were me I'd vote for myself. But... yeah. :)

Oh, how am I supposed to choose???

That smolder one is hil-ar-i-ous, though :)

Hurrah! Ack, there are sooooo many good ones! :-) I applaud your twelve choices...I would have had to pick them all. :-D

Laugh at you?? What nonsense! Miss Dashwood is not to be laughed at! (Which is a very uncommon advantage, and I hope I will not have many such acquaintance, as I dearly love a laugh...)

My favorite has got to be "Here Comes The Smolder" by Alexandra! But the top twelve finalists had such great entries. I love your choices.

I am rather shocked Miss Dashwood,....you didnt post the TOTAL BEST EVER one!!!!The one from Julia's Journal of Mr. Darcy\Marianne quote!! That one is COMPLETE TOPS, "In my humble(and correct) opinion" ...lol JK!! =)
But I was a little surprised knowing you to be Darcy fan you are..but anyway I did like the ones you put up!! The only one I didnt understand was The Smolder one....I've never seen Tangled though..so that explains it.=)
All in all it was REALLY good..and SOOO funny!!

Julia,
I loved the Mr. Darcy/Marianne quote too, but it wasn't as funny as Julia's "Horror of Finery" picture, so I chose the horror of finery instead. The contest was designed for funny buttons, and since the finery one was funnier, that was the one I picked. I only wish I could have picked more of the entries, there were so many good ones!!

Hi, I was reading your movie list, and saw the movies the you want to see.
You really should watch the 2008 Sense and Sensibility, it is not as well done as the '95 one, but it is still very good.
And I can highly recommend 'Singin' in the Rain', it is SO good! It has Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, and Donald O'Connor in it. They are seriously the BEST!

Julia,
Oh, and I forgot to say that I haven't seen Tangled either, but I'm familiar with that quote, so I laughed. :)

Jemimah,
Thanks for your recommendations! I've heard a lot of good things about "Singin' In The Rain" and I really like classic films, so I'll add that one to my list!

Jemimah C,
Thank you so much! You are very sweet. :)
