Quote of the Week 3

"Wilt thou give up thy garter, oh fairest of the fair"? Anne, nobody speaks that way. And look at that sap Percival who sits around mooning the entire time. He never lets a girl get a word in edgewise. In real life she'd have pitched him.
~Gilbert Blythe, Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel (1987)

Haha. ;-)
The sad thing is, Gilbert didn't say that sort of thing in the book. It was...forget his name...that old man with the parrot, in Anne of Avonlea.

That quote still makes me laugh. Especially the 'In real life she's have pitched him' part.

Yes, in the book it was Mr. Harrison, the guy who owned Ginger. "Redheaded snippet!" :)
Personally, though, I like the fact that Gilbert said it--I don't think it sounds out of place at all. That whole scene is just hysterical. "I am not your HORSE, Mr. Blythe."

It's quite the funny scene. Those first two Anne movies are wonderfully comical, like in the way P&P is comical. :)

Love that scene, even if it's not in the book. Especially that last bit...yes, she would have "pitched him"!

Oh, and I did see the The Scarlet Pimpernel movie!I didn't like it nearly as much as the book, but it was enjoyable :) My ten-yer-old brother does a dead-on impression of Anthony Andrews' Sir Percy and it is HILARIOUS! :D

LOL:)
I love when Gilbert says that.

I'm going on your blog today just to listen to the music while I'm writing...;-)

Melody,
I created a YouTube playlist of music solely for writing: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFC510909F10129BA&feature=viewall
It's almost entirely period drama sountracks, and for the most part it's quiet and soothing (which is what I need when I'm writing.)

Hey that's swell! Thanks. :)

Did you get the email? You don't need to answer it yet - I know you're busy - I just want to make sure I didn't send it to the wrong address or something. ;-)
